The aim of the International Summer School in Functional Genomics is to bring young scientific talents at master student/pre-phd-level together from different countries. The main theme is exploration of genes and function of genomic regions through chromosomal and genomic rearrangements. The course will include practical experiments on genome mapping, in situ hybridization, sequencing and bioinformatics, starting from novel chromosomal aberrations detected in a model disorder. The students will assess whether novel candidate genes could be involved in disease development through experimentation. The 1st Summer School was hold in Wilhelm Johannsen Centre, Panum Institute on August 13 - August 24, 2007.
