Genetic causes of autosomal dominant hearing impairment in 10 families

The aim is to identify novel mechanisms and genes involved in inherited deafness, by combining linkage analysis, bioinformatics and candidate gene screning of families with dominantly inherited non-syndromic deafness and of families with syndromic deafness, including Usher syndrome, branchio-oto-renal syndrome and combined ectodermal dysplasia and deafness. The methods employed are bioinformatics, genome-wide screening and linkage analysis, Southern blotting, tissue in situ hybridization, dHPLC, sequencing, quantitative PCR and selected protein analytical methods
